Actually the article in question makes exactly that point:

But the main issue with AutoLink isn’t whether it does or does not violate the sanctity of other people’s webpages, it’s that it’s so bloody useless.

It's this lameness that led me to compare AutoLink to Paris Hilton, after all. ;-)
